I am for World Peace

One dead baby is too many. I am for World Peace.

I believe that begins with me. I need a peaceful heart to promote and be a peaceful example.   I need to have love be the overwhelming emotion in my being to be a loving example to my fellow man. It starts with me. If I can share this with one person and they can share it with one person and so on and so on, when this is shared 33 times by one person to one other, we will get this message to go around the world with everyone thinking about how important world peace is to us all.
One dead baby is too many.

We have time to watch TV, Tik Tok, Facebook, all sorts of media. Canadian Marshall McLuhan said “The medium is the message” in 1964. He also wrote a book titled “The medium is the Massage” in 1967.

Fascinating reading and still completely relevant almost 60 years later. What message are they sending us? What do we see? We complain about different governments around the world. Are we not ourselves

war mongers and supporters in our hearts with each other? Do we pursue peace at all costs or has vengeance and resentment become our go to? Do we not on this side of the world sell the most arms and is

not That the reason that war continues to be what it is?

When I was a child, I endured physical, mental and emotional abuse. I was full of fear. I was experiencing my parents’ downloaded fears without knowing it.

If you are having trouble figuring out where your trauma is coming from, you may want to read this book. “It didn’t start with you.”

My parents came out of the 2nd World War scarred and full of fear. My mother’s oldest brother died stepping on a landmine and the family endured the war in a small village witnessing death all around.

My father buried his dad at the age of 5 and his mother got taken to a concentration camp for 2 years in 1943. He was alone, afraid and abandoned.

My dad left our family when I was 3 because he couldn’t control his anger. World War 2 followed the 1st World War (1914 – 1918) which was deemed “the war to end all wars.” What happened? We just

had a U.S. President that said the World wasn’t doing it’s fair share to protect themselves and he was adamant that each country set aside 2% of their GDP for military purposes. $2.1 Trillion dollars. That

is 2100 Billion dollars a year. That’s a lot of money. Is that the solution to the world’s ills? Killing women and children and young men and mothers and fathers and everyone else? Really? Who decides that?

I know I wouldn’t decide that. Would you?

One of my earliest memories when I started to be aware of the world around me included hearing on the news that people died in a variety of different ways; accidents, wars, natural deaths, etc.
I went to church every Sunday and was an altar boy at that time. This was when I was around 8 years old. I heard the Priest say “ask God for what you want and you will receive.” So I asked God

for 1 day where no one would die. I asked day after day, day after day. I know. Really naive. Childish. The next day I would search out the news to see if what I asked for came true and it didn’t.

Over and over and over again I would ask. Obviously my intentions were good but they were surpassed by my naivety. That may have been when I started to make the decision that God wasn’t listening.

From the book “The Ascent of man”, war is not based on religion or politics. War is simply “I want what you have and I am coming to get it.” When will it end? How does it end? It doesn’t, if it doesn’t end with me.

We the people need to stop it. There will always be resentment if war persists and there will always be war if resentment persists. We need to bite the head off of resentment. But how?

Here are a few ways. Legend has it that when a nun wanted to work with Mother Teresa she would ask her to do the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous first and then she could come work with her.

This is one way to attain peace and Serenity.

We had a wonderful human example in 1996. Nelson Mandela started the Truth and reconciliation commission at that time. The three principles of this commission were truth sharing, apology and acknowledgement of  past harms.

The purpose of the commission was to promote reconciliation and forgiveness among perpetrators and victims of apartheid by the full disclosure of truth. This took place almost 30 years ago. How can we be on the precipice of

another World War once again? Why did his movement not get replicated around the world? What drives these wars?

One dead baby is too many. I am for World Peace. Are you? I believe peace begins with me and my heart. I need to have peace in me to share that consciousness with you, 1 person. I need to forgive and love everyone and understand that people come from various places and have had their own difficult journey. People are good. People learn love from the outset. They are coddled and cared for. They are loved. Look at a mother with her baby. That is how life begins. What happens?

John Lennon said:
“Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we’re being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I’m liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That’s what’s insane about it.”

He also said:
“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”

“All we are saying is give peace a chance.”

“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”

As citizens of the world we need to rise up in love. Love has always been the answer. The 1960’s were monumental in spurring the end of legal segregation, the achievement of legal equality for women,

increased social tolerance for homosexuality, concern for the environment, and heightened respect for non-Western cultures. Can we do it again or has the controlled medium become the message?

It seems that now we are being ripped apart and fuelled by resentment and rights and news about how everyone is being offended and persecuted. Do you see that if we continue to permeate that

consciousness we will continue to have war in our hearts and subsequently agree with it on the outside as well?

Resentment and hate brings war in one on one relationships and then to the world at large. The world’s men, (yes I am centring out men, because whenever I see world leaders discussing things I see

an overwhelming majority of older men) need to start to forgive and love rather than buy in to the hate and resentment in their hearts and the filling of the war mongers’ and arms dealers’ pockets at the

expense of the little children that die or subsequently suffer from the fallout of war. I as well as most of my generation know what that torturous existence feels like. I believe we all continue to suffer from that fallout.

To find out why you may be as angry as you are, I recommend you read this book.

I ask you to take a few minutes to write your thoughts here about how war has affected your life. If you agree that “One dead baby is too many” then let’s bring back the message from the 60’s – I am for World Peace.

Let’s all rise up and let the leaders we have elected know that we want peace and not war. We want a world where love is the overwhelming emotion.

God (of your understanding) is Great!
Life is Beautiful!

We the people can end war if we can end it in our hearts. Even the churches try to differentiate from each other. A wise friend of mine told me years ago that they all ring the same bell “Ding Dong, Ding Dong. We’re right and you’re wrong.”

Are we not all here to love the God of our understanding and subsequently love and serve our fellows? If you are for World Peace please add your voice to this discussion.

God bless and keep you,
AU
